 Essay on Mahatma Gandhi

MAIN BODY

  1. EARLY LIFE

  2. RETURN TO INDIA

  3. PRINCIPLES AND PERCEPTIONS

Mahatma Gandhi took birth in Porbandar, Gujarat on 2nd October 1869. He pursued his primary education at Rajkot and was married early at the age of 13 years to Kasturba. After passing Matric Examination, M.K Gandhi went to England for passing the L.L.B examination. After returning from England, he then started his career as a lawyer in Bombay. To plead a case, he went to South Africa where he was disgraced and discriminated based on colour. It was here in South Africa where Gandhiji fought against the Apartheid system and led his first battle of satyagraha.

Gandhiji returned to India in 1915 and engaged himself in the process of freedom of the country. Soon, he became one of the most respected personalities in India. Within two years of coming back to India, he led his three initial yet very important satyagrahas and protests in Champaran, Ahmedabad, and Kheda. Gandhiji didn’t take a break after this and kept on launching movements, including peaceful demonstrations, satyagrahas against the British Rule. These movements include the Non-Cooperation Movement, Salt Satyagraha, Civil Disobedience Movement, and finally the Purna Swaraj and Quit India movement, which led to an end to the British Rule in India.

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” not only did he say this, but he also practiced what he preached. Mahatma Gandhi was a man of principles and morals. Satyagraha, non-violence truthfulness, peaceful discussions, all of these were his principles that united all the people of our country to fight against oppression. He treated everyone equally without considering their caste. He was strictly against the untouchability and caste system which oppressed the lower classes- the Shudras and the Dalits. Gandhiji did many things to uplift the untouchables and so-called depressed caste people, such as calling them “Harijans” (the children of God) and persuading the upper castes to treat them appropriately. He used many symbols like “charkha” and “khadi” to preach self-independence and hard work to the people of India. Gandhiji strictly followed a vegetarian diet and influenced everyone to do so. He supported and taught the principles of Lord Buddha to everyone, including self-inde[pennce, satisfaction with what you have, peace, non-violence, and unity.

CONCLUSION

The father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was the strength of India and every Indian. His principles and teachings remain with us even today. A peacemaker, Mahatma Gandhi, a well-read, and a man of high morals taught us the real meaning of the famous saying, ” United we stand, divided we fall”.  One can trace his perceptions towards life through some famous books penned down by him – my Experiments With Truth(his autobiography), Key To Health, Hind Swaraj, etc.

Terrorism in India Essay

Introduction

Terrorism is a grand threat to human civilisation. The entire world is faced with this problem and India is no exception to it. India has been suffering terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir for long. The North-Eastern states, including Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, parts of Bihar and Orissa are also challenged with the same problem. Many terrorist organisations are active and have their demands and objectives. These organisations have been trained in terror tactics and are sponsored by other organisations in foreign countries.

essay on terrorism in india

Causes of terrorism in India

The foremost causes of terrorism cover acute nationalism as exhibited by Hitler, who promoted nationalist feelings among this countryman and hatred for others. Second is an economic difference. The charm for leading a luxurious life and be a part of a high profile section of the society anyhow make them make money at any cost. The third and most dangerous is communal disharmony. When people are distinguished on account of caste, colour, creed etc. they increase in hostility and opposition.

Need for Peace

India is a peace-loving country. She was always worked to counter-terrorism and establish world peace. There is a need to make the rule of law and punish the evil. The additional delay in the administrative process should also be neglected. There are some examples of terrorists who were killed rightly but after much delay.

Conclusion

Nations should also try to control the arms race. Energy sources should be used for peaceful intentions and not bullying weaker nations. And lastly to have the sense to realise our goals and fight the evil out with the increase in knowledge, power and resources.
