Introduction- Social Media
Social media is coming up as a major thing in the present. One can’t neglect its importance, its relevance or even its presence. There’s an entire generation of people on social media and it’s affecting everything, social media, it’s contents as well as people.
People now find ways to socialize through social media, a lot of people even try to fetch friends, social validation, happiness out of social media, but is it for real?
There is a various number of web/social media that are existing. The most popular ones are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Instagram is beaming amongst the youth these days, Facebook is also a thing. But the more fashionable thing of this age seems to be Instagram.
We see people walking through the crowds, standing in the metros checking their phone screens, gaping at other people’s stories on Instagram, WhatsApp, whatsoever. People have immersed themselves in social media and have begun to live a life only for it.
The illusionary world of virtual unrealities
What we come across through social media is generally a fabricated image of what it is in real life. The great photography skills of people have made things appear better than them. There’s a life of pretensions and layers that functions on social media and people try to imitate the unreal picture of the things.
Social media is indeed a thing that creates an imagined reality.
It presents the illusionary world around us. But at the same time, it helps us connect with masses, with very different people of distant worlds and. Social media also makes things run smoother.
Social media has brought people closer together on one platform, the virtual space adds up to people’s lives and gives them a free, accessible, mobile space to express themselves.
People are generally busy these days, and social media has made them busier.
The generation is becoming more materialistic, as social media exposes them to more material and create the need for things.
Conclusion of the Essay
People are more inclined towards possessing things, acquiring the desirable figure, clothes, making more money and over all of it showing it off. Social media has made people more flamboyant and pompous.
Sadly, social media is also affecting the psyche of people. People are more socially anxious and have become restricted in terms of real social interaction. The virtual space has opened them up and shut down their urge to socialize in real space. There’s nothing wrong with using social media, but people fail to strike a balance between the two.
