Janmashtmi is a very significant and important festival celebrated amongst the Hindu population of India, the festival is to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, Lord Krishna is also known as the most powerful incarnation of Lord Vishnu. These names like Vishnu, Brahma, Krishna are derived from Hindu mythology. People tend to believe in stories they hear from mythology, Krishna is one such example. The Hindus perform various rituals on the day of the festival. Similarly, there are regions, where a group of people break the matki and get the butter out of it. It is a very fun event to witness.
Janmashtmi is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha. It mostly falls in August.
Lord Krishna was born on the 8th day of the night in the month of Bhadon, he was also celebrated as an epitome of greatness.
